WillCat & Fox @StudioTIEY

And now for something completely different...

We are thrilled to welcome WillCat and Fox to our studio for their first appearance in Europe together. Traveling from Montreal, they are here to offer something refreshingly different: workshops that blend clear structure with curiosity and creativity, and a performance that will be bold, surprising, and unforgettable.

If you're looking for a different perspective on rope and challenge your practice, this is the time to join. Whether you're an experienced rigger, a rope bottom, or simply curious to explore new ideas, their workshops will challenge how you think about shibari.

You don't have to always know where you are going. The shape of things takes time, and sometimes changes entirely before it arrives. Our visit to Studio TIEY is an invitation at shifting perspectives; to have you question what you thought you knew, and sit with the questions that replace it. I hope it gives you answers. I hope it gives you more questions. Both are the point.

Program

Foundations of the 3-shape rope philosophy

Rope asks more of you than almost anyone warns you it will: more technical, more intimate, more demanding of your attention. This evening is not about collecting more ties.
It is about adapting how you see, so that whatever you tie, you understand what you are doing while you do it.

Three shapes hold Willcat's whole practice.

  • The square is structure: the form, the frame, the pattern repeated until it is reliable.

  • The triangle is tension: the moment of decision, where you choose a direction, apply pressure, and answer for the consequence.

  • The circle is flow: the return, the dialogue, adapting in real time when the body in front of you is not the body you planned for.

We spend the evening inside those three; the universe.
We build something simple, and read and feel it: what holds, what does not. We choose what to do with it, and feel the difference intention makes. Then we let it move, listening with the hands, responding rather than imposing. None of it is advanced. All of it is the whole practice, the part you return to at every level.

You will leave with more answers than you came for, and far more questions and destinations to explore. I will answer the most frustrating one: is this suspendable?
The path is not something you ever complete; it is something you continue to grow.
& That is the point.

PREREQUISITES

Open level. No suspension experience required.

Living Structures: Load Paths in Motion

This workshop is for people already solid in frictions, partials, uplines, and load work, who want to understand force itself rather than gather more patterns. A portion of the workshop will be dedicated to the foundations of integrating bamboo & similar objects.

Every tie is a structure, and every structure has a path that force travels through: into the body, along the lines, through the frictions, out to the floor or the point. Many people only see that path when it fails. This weekend is about seeing and feeling it before it does, testing it on purpose, and then playing with it on purpose. The workshop is based on the three concepts that guide Willcat's practice: the Square, the Triangle, the Circle.

  • SQUARE: identify and establish.
Body positionality, maximums, and feeling connected. What does that feel like? We build structures that can be read through touch. Which lines carry weight, which are doing nothing but looking good. We locate where force enters and where it leaves, and we build the path until it is reliable and known, rather than hoped for. We will create a few front-hand structures (Maete). Kata first; you cannot play with a path you cannot yet draw.

  • TRIANGLE: test and stress.
Here we load deliberately and find the edges: partials and controlled stressors, leverage used to redirect force rather than fight it, the moment where forces meet and something has to give. A line that carries weight can carry torment, so the same path that serves the structure through sustainability also serves seme; learn to use that tension explicitly. We find where it holds, and where it groans. A limb, a length of bamboo, a wall, anything rigid becomes a way to send force somewhere new.

  • CIRCLE: play and adapt.
Floor into partials, partials into floating, all throughout being dynamic. Advanced body manipulation. Understanding the body: Active and Passive positioning, creating living structures; using leverage, locking, and weight migrations, effectively.

PREREQUISITES

Intermediate to advanced:

  • You are executing full suspensions. You have solid grounding in previous material and can reproduce a harness from start to finish with accuracy and functionality. Your frictions are firm, your tensions precise. You may be eager to explore dynamic transitions, even if the mechanics aren't yet second nature.

  • Goal: Refinement · Precision · Confidence under load · Mindset: Mastery through awareness, not ego

Studio TIEY – 5 Year Anniversary Celebration

Five years ago, Studio TIEY opened its doors with the ambition to create a welcoming space for learning, sharing, and exploring rope together. Thanks to our incredible community, we've grown into something we could only have dreamed of.

We would love for you to celebrate this milestone with us!

To mark the occasion, we're delighted to present a special performance by WillCat and Fox, visiting us from Montreal. Together they create performances that are playful, intense, theatrical, and full of unexpected twists. Having tied together since 2020, their connection on stage is unmistakable, blending technical excellence with emotion, tension, and a healthy dose of mischief.

Whether you've been with us from the very beginning or are joining Studio TIEY for the first time, this evening is about celebrating our community, our shared passion for rope, and the exciting years ahead.

Come celebrate with us, enjoy an unforgettable performance, and join us for cake as we toast to the next five years of Studio TIEY!

ABout WillCat

Willcat (William Desjardins, she/her, they/them IG @Willcatropes) is a shibari educator, performer, and author based in Montreal, and the founder of Tension MTL. She came to rope in 2014 and has not stopped since, with over ten thousand hours tying, teaching, and performing. Her teaching grows out of a background in component-based teaching, application of martial arts pedagogy & serious kenjutsu practice. This all evolved into her current practice and Nawajutsu: a martial path through rope, where the body and its mechanics come before the rope itself.

Her practice is organised throughout a thorough curriculum where she talks constantly about three shapes drawn from philosophy & martial arts: the Square, the Triangle, and the Circle. Structure, tension, and flow. The square holds, the triangle chooses, the circle returns. The same framework runs from the first lesson through to advanced load work.

About Fox

Fox (she/her, IG @Bruise.cruise) is a healthcare practitioner whose work in medicine became the root of a distinctive artistic voice in rope, and in particular in medical play. She brings a clinician's precision and a real appetite for intensity to the same body of work, equally at home giving pain and receiving it, and she treats the edge as a place to play rather than something to prove. Her interest is always in what a body can be made to feel, and in doing it with care, control, and intent. Kink has been a place of real empowerment for her, a way to meet intense needs on her own terms. As a partner she offers range: she can be caring or merciless, as her name would imply… sometimes wild, and she is most alive in the moments a scene refuses to go where anyone expected.
