Peter Etheros is the founder of Studio TIEY, a welcoming space where a diverse community of fellow human beings can explore shibari, self-development, and authenticity — not necessarily in that order.
As a passionate rigger and teacher, Peter loves to share and coach human beings about shibari and other life related matters. Since 2020, he teaches his structured method based on Yagami-ryu, inviting others to discover the beauty of connection and self-expression.
Peter’s deeper relationship with rope began in 2013, when he crossed paths with Georg Barkas. Through a series of transformative apprenticeships, he gained insights of Osada-ryu, the importance of rope handling and the use of rope as a language to build dialogue and connection. His journey studying Naka-ryu with Docvale highlighted the elegance of minimalism and the art of surrender, while his time with Michael RopeKnight in Yukimura-ryu further deepened his understanding of self-reflection and energy control, complementing his practice. Years later, Peter had the privilege of studying with Ren Yagami, who inspired him to embrace a beginner’s mindset and to focus on breaking down styles into their fundamentals.
After a one-year sabbatical in 2021, Peter made the life-changing decision to leave behind his career as a corporate trainer and business coach to fully dedicate himself to Studio TIEY and its community. He is especially drawn to building long-term connections, fostering personal growth, and nurturing authentic human experiences through the art and philosophy of rope. With certifications in NLP and as a Zenthai Shiatsu therapist, he brings a holistic approach to his insights in body and mind.
